Semaglutide

MXC Semaglutide 10 mg vial

Size

Research focus

A GLP-1 analogue studied for metabolic regulation in controlled human trials.

In simple words

Semaglutide is a peptide modelled on GLP-1, a gut hormone involved in metabolic signalling. Controlled human studies examine body-weight and metabolic responses in specific populations.

The named research compound is described here; the identity and formulation of this catalogue vial have not been independently verified.

Semaglutide: STEP 1

Human — randomized controlled trial

1,961 adults with overweight or obesity, without diabetes.

Semaglutide plus lifestyle intervention produced greater weight reduction than placebo plus lifestyle intervention over 68 weeks.

Nausea and diarrhoea were common. More participants stopped semaglutide because of gastrointestinal events. The tested formulation and trial setting matter.

PMID 33567185. Indexed abstract checked through Europe PMC on 2026-10-26. Selected evidence, not a systematic review.

Compound name and formula checked via PubChem PUG REST. This reference does not verify the vial, salt or formulation.

PubChem

Mechanism and target search. Automated access returned 403; DrugBank was not used to substantiate claims or approval status.

DrugBank

Protein/precursor search, not a record of the supplied vial. Synthetic compounds and lab supplies may have no matching protein entry.

UniProt

Bioactivity search. Assay results depend on the tested compound, target and experimental conditions.

ChEMBL

ClinicalTrials.gov

Exact preferred-name record verified through the ChEMBL API; activity records require their own assay context.

ChEMBL — semaglutide

Reviewed human GLP1R record verified via UniProt API. This is a receptor record, not compound identity or evidence of vial activity.

UniProt — human GLP-1 receptor

Evidence on studied compounds does not establish the identity, purity, safety, or regulatory approval of the catalogue vial. No Canadian regulatory status is assessed here.
